Argumentative Essay:Dogs vs Cats Essay. Pets bring happiness to a person’s life. They create a special bond with their owners. This bond can help an owner and his pet live in education research harmony. People usually get pets to have a companion in Research Essay their homes. Couples get pets before having a child because taking care of a pet is similar in taking care of education research paper, a child. Pets usually are fish, birds, mammals, and sometimes reptiles, but insects like spiders and nursing-dissertation ants are still owned by some people that consider them as pets.

Dogs and cats are one of the most popular pets to have. Dogs and cats make a big percentage in the world’s populations of paper, pets, according to the Humane Society of the United States (2011) there are 78.2 million owned dog and essay smoking in public 86.4 million owned cats. Dogs show that they are loyal to an owner and that are easily trained, cats on the other hand can take care of themselves better than dogs and can remove rat infestations from the house of the owner. Both dogs and cats have their pros and cons, but dogs are better pets than cats because they show more qualities of a better pet than a cat. Dogs provide an active lifestyle for an owner. Physical Research Paper. Dogs are very energetic which requires constant walks.

This makes the owner and a dog have a healthier lifestyle than having a cat. Essay. Have you ever seen a person walk their cat? If someone would ever see a person walk their cat, that would be their first time seeing that sight. Cats are known as to stay at physical education research, their home and wait for smoking in public places, time to pass by. The energy of physical research paper, a dog can also excite their owner making them play together for a certain time. Dogs also learn a variety of tricks and can learn them easier than cats. The capability of things book, a dog in learning tricks can simply amaze a person, training a cat to sit, rollover, or play fetch can be weird sight to physical education, see. I personally have not seen a cat do the tricks a dog can do. If I ever see one, I do not know what would my reaction would be.

While training a dog, the time spent in training can help in establishing a good relationship with their owner. Essay Against Smoking. A dog can also provide protection to a home. Dogs can be trained to physical, alert owners when seeing a stranger in their yard or attack on command when the owner says so. Certain breeds like German Sheperd and essay answers Labrador Retriever can be trained to be police dogs. These dogs help in assisting police with their work, providing them help in physical education research paper searching for missing people or objects or in detecting firearms or illegal substances on people.

Dogs were also used for hunting purposes; their keen sense of smell has helped humans hunt their prey easily. Dogs can also be trained to guide blind people to destinations. Cats can help out in rat infestations at home but they cannot help in sniffing out people with firearms or guiding people to destinations. Another reason dogs are better than cats is that dogs can understand humans better than cats. Training a dog requires hand gestures, these hand gestures when repeated over and over can be easily understood by that need to be in a book report a dog that will trigger the action that the owner wanted.

Many people think that dogs show more affection than cats. According to education research, the journal Animal Cognition, University of London, researchers have found that dogs are more likely to essay against places, approach a crying person than someone who was humming or talking, and that they normally respond to physical education research paper, weeping with submissive behaviors. Cats are known to have an timetable attachment with their owners because cats know that their owners bring them food every day. Lastly, dogs provide better companionship with their owners. Physical Research. Every time an owner spends time with his/her dog, it develops their relationship to something better. Ib Psychology Answers. Dogs are called a man’s best friend because they are always at your side, wanting to play with you, or trying to cheer you up. The bond between a dog and education their owner is dissertation timetable, similar to a parent and a child. Physical Paper. A child knows when their parent is timetable, around or not. The child becomes happy when they see their parents while sad and distressed when they see that they are gone. Cats can have a bond with their owners too, but they are more adept at being independent on their own. Dogs are better pets than cats but that does not mean that cats are not bad pets.

Cats also have their positive sides like, independency. As mentioned earlier, cats are independent; they can feed off food that they find from the home of education, their owners, an example would be rats and mice. Cats also can bathe on their own, so they do not need their owners to give them a bathe regularly. The dependency of a dog can sometimes frustrate an owner, the feeding it needs regularly, the Expository Research Essay cleaning of the education research dog’s dirt, and the bath it needs to keep clean are the factors that can frustrate an owner. Cats are more silent than dogs. Expository Research. The barking of a dog can irritate an owner and the neighbours. A cat’s “meow” cannot be loud enough to wake people up at midnight.

According to Douglas (2004), dogs can vocalize their moods, meaning the physical research loudness of their bark depends on what emotion they have at the moment. Cats on the other hand do not, if they are happy, sad, or excited they will “meow” at nursing-dissertation, the same level but evidence from (McComb et al., 2009) suggests that cats are capable of physical, purring with a frequency that has a subliminal effect similar to essay answers, that of a human baby#8217;s cry. This purr, known as the #8220;solicitation purr,#8221; is slightly different from the regular purr and is used to ask for food. I have never experienced owning a cat, my family has always owned dogs. From stray dog to a breeded one, it has always been dogs. The loyalty shown by physical education research paper the dog, companionship to their owner, the active lifestyle given by the dog, and capability of the dog to dissertation, learn tricks are the physical education research reasons why my family would own a dog than a cat. I have never thought of having a cat, even in essay against smoking places the future. The cats of our neighbours have helped me in making that decision. Every time we leave a door open, a cat would manage to go inside, hop on the dining table and paper get some of the food prepared.

Another case would be that some cats bear their children at our garage which would make our dogs bark out need book report loud. These cases have lead me to make the decision that dogs are better pets than cats. How being a nation of pill poppers is education paper, making us ill: More and more Britons are being put on daily cocktails of drugs - with alarming consequences. Published: 00:38 BST, 30 June 2015 | Updated: 10:18 BST, 30 June 2015. Dave Fisher will never forget the day he watched his mother die in agony from essay a cardiac arrest in a hospital bed. Nor will he forgive the research, doctors who prescribed the Expository Research, combination of two drugs he believes killed her in just 28 minutes as her family could only watch in research paper, horror. ‘She was very distressed and gasping for breath,’ recalls the nursing-dissertation, marine surveyor. ‘It was horrendous.’ In April 2010, Joan Fisher, an physical, 83-year-old former nurse, was taken to book, hospital after suffering chest pains. She’d initially been rushed by ambulance to paper, Hull Royal Infirmary, but because of a bed shortage was transferred that evening to ib psychology essay answers, nearby Castle Hill Hospital. Unsettled by the late evening transfer, Mrs Fisher became increasingly anxious. In the past 13 years, the number of prescriptions issued in the UK has virtually doubled, to research paper, 1.24 billion a year.

Worse, she was somehow separated from her regular medication — drugs for Expository, conditions including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, osteoporosis, angina, raised cholesterol, high blood pressure and research paper, heart failure. So at Castle Hill, the missing medication was reordered from the hospital’s own stocks — but a registrar also decided to add bisoprolol to essay in public, the list. Bisoprolol, like the physical paper, diltiazem Mrs Fisher was already taking, is used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain. But as the hospital trust finally admitted more than two years after Mrs Fisher’s death, the drugs should be prescribed together only in careers for creative, very specific circumstances and physical education research paper, under expert supervision. Used in combination, they can slow the Research Essay, heart and lower blood pressure, leading to education research, heart failure. The hospital trust insisted that Mrs Fisher’s death so soon after she’d been given the drugs meant it was ‘relatively unlikely’ they’d killed her. But an independent expert told an inquest into her death that the combination had ‘played a significant part’ in her cardiac arrest.

Her story graphically illustrates a growing concern about ‘polypharmacy’ — where patients are prescribed handfuls of Expository Essay drugs, even though, in physical education research, many cases, doctors have little idea how these drugs might interact or the in public places, effect on education paper patients’ health. Polypharmacy has long been an issue in dissertation timetable, the care of the physical education, elderly. Nursing-dissertation? But younger people, too, are now being affected, thanks to an astonishing increase in the number of drugs we are taking. This includes statins. These cholesterol-lowering drugs are now Britain’s number one medication, with prescriptions for them increasing by 266 per cent in the ten years from 2002, according to official figures. Last year 60 million prescriptions were written for education research paper, two brands, simvastatin and timetable, atorvastatin, alone. But statins are just the tip of the iceberg. At the heart of the problem is education research paper, a staggering fact that affects us all: in the past 13 years, the number of nursing-dissertation prescriptions issued in the UK has virtually doubled, to research, 1.24 billion a year. This unprecedented boom can’t be put down simply to the fact that there are more of us. Last year 60 million prescriptions were written for two brands of statin, simvastatin and atorvastatin, alone. The population rose by ib psychology essay 10 per cent between 2000 and 2013; over the same period prescriptions soared by physical paper 82 per cent.

Nor is it solely because more of that in a us are living longer. The reality, as a study published in April confirmed, is that, on research average, each of us is nursing-dissertation, taking far more drugs than before. Researchers from Dundee University Medical Research Institute looked at the prescriptions history of more than 300,000 adults in Tayside and found that the education, proportion taking five or more medications had doubled. Furthermore, the timetable, combination of medicines people were prescribed were ‘increasingly complex and potentially harmful’, they said. And because most evidence of the effectiveness and safety of drugs came from trials which didn’t include people with a number of conditions, too little was understood about possible interactions. It’s a similar picture for the rest of the UK, with previous research by the King’s Fund showing the physical education research paper, number of patients on ten or more drugs trebled between 1995 and dissertation, 2010. The healthcare think-tank has also warned that unless patients’ drugs are reviewed regularly, there is education, ‘a risk that treatment may be ineffective at best and harmful at worst’. Doctors are culturally conditioned to prescribe drugs, not to take patients off them, experts claim. Indeed while unexpected death, such as Mrs Fisher’s, is a rare consequence of drug interactions, many patients have a low quality of life thanks to the aches and pains caused by polypharmacy. Worse, these patients could find themselves on yet more drugs as doctors write prescriptions to nursing-dissertation, deal with the physical education research, resulting symptoms, a phenomenon known as the careers writing majors, ‘therapeutic cascade’, explains Tony Avery, professor of paper general practice at Nottingham University, an expert in things that in a book report, polypharmacy. So why are so many more of us being prescribed ever more drugs?

In her book The Patient Paradox, Glasgow GP Margaret McCartney highlighted the problem of ‘sexed-up medicine’ and the ‘determination of healthcare professionals to bring healthy people into physical education surgeries and clinics, and Expository Research Essay, turn them into patients’. Put simply, more of us are being treated as if we are ill. The elderly are most at risk of being over-medicalised in this way. Earlier this year researchers at education research paper, the University of to be report Exeter Medical School found there had been ‘a dramatic increase in the medicalisation of the oldest old’ — those aged 85 or older, whose numbers are rising. The proportion being diagnosed with three or more conditions rose from education 32.2 to 55.1 per cent. But even among those aged 65 to 84, the proportion rose from 27.1 to 35.1 per against in public places cent. The researchers also found large increases in conditions including diabetes, chronic kidney disease, osteoarthritis and high blood pressure.

And the physical education research, middle-aged are also needlessly being turned into patients. Take the example of timetable statins. The UK has the physical, highest prescribing rate for them in Europe, according to a 2013 report by that need report the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development: here, 13 per cent of the population were taking the research paper, drugs, compared to timetable, just 7 per cent in Germany. Furthermore, we swallowed 40 per education paper cent more of them than the nursing-dissertation, average person in Europe. And that’s set to physical research, increase under new guidelines issued by the National Institute for Expository, Health and Care Excellence (NICE), which wants to physical education, see millions more of us put on the controversial drugs. Last June, leading doctors accused NICE of timetable trying to medicalise ‘five million healthy individuals’, pointing out physical education that the supporting evidence had come ‘almost entirely from pharmaceutical company funded studies’. NICE denies many people are being given drugs unnecessarily.

But it’s not just cholesterol drugs the middle-aged can now find themselves taking; they can also be borderline candidates for careers for creative writing, other drugs for research paper, conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, chronic pain and depression. Since NICE was founded in 1999, doctors have received a steady flow of guidance on which drugs have been shown to be effective in a range of dissertation timetable conditions. GPs also face struggles regarding taking a patient off a drug such as aspirin - especially if doing so flies in the face of NICE guidance. As Professor Nina Barnett, a consultant pharmacist at physical education research paper, Northwick Park Hospital, London, explains, this has been ‘a double-edged sword’. ‘We are able to offer people treatments where the benefits outweigh the risks, because we actually have evidence from to be in a book experts,’ she says. ‘The flip side is that more medicines are being prescribed and paper, we have a bigger issue with polypharmacy. ‘And what do you do if you are following guidance to help people to manage high blood pressure, and they also have diabetes, osteoarthritis and a number of other conditions? Do you take all the pieces of guidance, follow each one and hope that it all works out?’ Doctors are culturally conditioned to prescribe drugs, not to dissertation, take patients off them, adds Professor Avery, the prescribing lead for the Royal College of General Practitioners. From medical school onwards, ‘there is education paper, very little about stopping medicines’.

What’s more, GPs will think twice before taking a patient off a drug if doing so flies in the face of Expository NICE guidance. Take something as simple as aspirin. ‘You’ve got an elderly patient who’s been on aspirin for years and you’re wondering whether to stop it, perhaps because they’re getting a bit anaemic and it could be causing minor stomach bleeds,’ says Professor Avery. The average number of pills prescribed to physical education paper, each person in timetable, the UK in 2013. ‘If you continue with the aspirin, you might have to prescribe another drug to stop them having this minor bleed. Or might they be better off without it?’ That, he says, is the sort of paper decision that feels ‘scary’ as a GP. ‘You’ve withdrawn a drug for nursing-dissertation, the best of physical intentions, but what if they have a stroke tomorrow?’

Professor Avery also believes ‘health economics’ is why more patients are being put on medication. As drug patents expire and cheaper, generic versions become available, so there is an increased tendency to prescribe ‘just in case’. Once again, statins are a case in point. Careers? When the patent on Merck’s simvastatin expired in 2004, the cost fell dramatically — it is now the most prescribed medication in the UK. So where does this leave patients?

For doctors, ‘the only way to manage that safely is to physical, keep a dialogue with your patient and monitor the medications’, says Professor Barnett. For patients, ‘the way to keep yourself safe and to things that need report, get the best out physical education of the smoking in public places, medications you are on is to have a blood test every six months. ‘And when you see your doctor it’s important to say: “These are the physical education paper, things in my life I want to be able to dissertation, do, and I want you to education paper, help me get the best out of my medicines”.’ Dr McCartney adds: ‘If a drug has a one in majors, 100 chance of preventing a heart attack, but makes you feel sick every day, you might quite reasonably decide to give it a miss.’ Share what you think. 10 Things Smart PhDs Do NOT Put On Their Industry Resumes. Written by Isaiah Hankel, Ph.D. What are you supposed to do when you send hundreds of resumes out and get nothing back but a few automated responses? This is the question I was trying to answer my last year of graduate school. I literally sent out hundreds of resumes. I posted my resume to Monster.com and waited for the tidal wave of physical, industry job offers to roll in. Yeah…that didn’t happen. I polished up a generic resume and uploaded it to dozens of nursing-dissertation, industry job websites. I remember getting on Pfizer and physical research paper Baxter’s websites, clicking the job opportunities tab, and seeing all the industry job openings. “Yes!” I thought. Piece-of-cake. I’ll just upload my resume and nursing-dissertation have an offer by the end of the week.

There couldn’t possibly be that many other PhDs out there applying to the same PhD jobs. Physical. Wrong. I found out later that some companies receive over 2,000 resumes a day. 2,000 a day! I felt stuck and dissertation timetable lost so I asked my academic advisor to help me write my resume. He sent me his CV and said “Here, look at education, this.” Great. Thanks for nursing-dissertation, nothing. I knew that industry hiring managers weren’t interested in CVs. How did my advisor not know this?

That’s when I realized how little lifetime academics know about getting an industry job. So, I asked one of the job counselors at the graduate school for advice. She told me the key to getting an physical research paper interview was to write a very detailed cover letter, make sure that my education history was at the top of my resume, and to include a one sentence “objective” at the very top of my resume. Okay. That’s great advice. Right? Nope. Timetable. She was wrong too. Paper. It wasn’t until 3 months later that I found out just how awful her advice was.

Over 427,000 resumes are posted to Monster.com each week—that’s just one job website. Nursing-dissertation. Most companies use Applicant Tracking Software to automatically filter and eliminate 75% of the resumes sent to them. Education Research Paper. If your resume makes it to the desk of a hiring manager and Expository Research Essay recruiter, they will spend an average of education paper, just 5-7 seconds reading it. Seconds. That’s all you get. All the hours, days, months, and years you’ve spent getting your PhD will come down to just a few seconds. Essay. Think of how hard you’ve worked to get to where you are. Are you really going to throw it all away by not taking the time to get your resume just right? More is more. This is education paper, what most PhDs are taught. Triplicates are better than duplicates.

An N of 200 is better than an Essay N of 2. Education. A CV with 10 first author publications is better than a CV with one first author publication. On and on. Careers Writing Majors. But, when it comes to physical education creating a strong industry resume for a PhD job, less is dissertation timetable, more. Adding the wrong things or too many things to your resume will keep you from getting the industry job you want. A better strategy is to simplify your industry resume down to only the things that industry hiring managers and recruiters actually want to see. Paper. Here are 10 things smart PhDs like you should remove from your industry resume: 1. Unprofessional email address. Three out of nursing-dissertation, four resumes are discarded because they’re sent from an unprofessional email address or have an unprofessional email address attached to their resume or cover letter. This means you can put yourself ahead of education paper, 75% of the other applicants simply by eliminating any references to unprofessional email addresses like bigboy77@yahoo.com or similar. A lot of PhDs are afraid to use their University email address when applying to to be jobs because they think their PI is going to hack into their email account and find out they’re trying to leave the lab.

This won’t happen. Education Research Paper. PIs don#8217;t have access to your University email account. However, if you’re currently working in industry and looking to change jobs, don’t use your work email because your boss can absolutely see your emails. Instead, create a very professional gmail address in this format: firstname.lastname@gmail.com. If this version of your name is taken, then simple insert your middle initial or middle name between your first and last names. 2. Impersonal greeting. Never use an impersonal greeting on your resume’s cover letter. Greetings like #8220;Dear Sirs#8221; or #8220;To Whom It May Concern#8221; are creepy, distant, and outdated.

Most importantly, these greetings makes you seem lazy. Instead of taking the time to Expository research who the hiring manager is, you just threw your hands up in the air and typed a general greeting that could be applied to anyone. As a result, your resume and physical education candidacy were seen as mediocre at best. Nursing-dissertation. Smart PhDs always use a personal greeting. They know that over 50% of all top industry jobs are given to referrals, but only 7% of physical, applicants are referrals. Timetable. Let that sink in. Over 50% of the best positions are given to people who have networked and, as a result, have been introduced to research paper a decision-maker or someone who will vouch for them to a decision-maker. Yet, 93% of people applying to these jobs are just sending out their resumes blindly and impersonally on the Internet without knowing anyone at the company they want to work for. Answers. Which side of the fence are you on?

Before you send your resume in, find out who the hiring manager is. Research Paper. Or at least find out the name of someone who works on the team you’re trying to crack into. At the very least, use the dissertation timetable name of education research paper, someone in human resources. Then, connect with people who work at the company you’re seeking employment at. Network on LinkedIn, network at face-to-face events, and do whatever it takes to get to know someone well enough to put their name on the first line of your cover letter. Careers For Creative Writing Majors. In the end, your cover letter should be short and sweet, with a personal greeting (e.g. Dear Jeremy, Dear Dr. Research. Smith) and should start with a line like, “I have been in essay against smoking in public places, contact with Jason Jones , your Regional Sales Manager , who mentioned that your open Project Manager position would be perfect for me.” Putting an objective statement at the top of your resume will not help you get an industry job.

Instead, it will paint you into education paper a corner. A better strategy is to use a visual center . A visual center starts at 2 inches from the top of your resume and ends 2 inches below that. This center should be emphasized with graphics, such as textboxes, bullets, and bold fonts. Load the visual center with the value you will offer the company, such as across-the-board accomplishments, industry-specific skills, a summary of a highly successful project you lead, or even a clipping from a recommendation letter or news article about your work. Resumes with visual centers that are interesting and catch the reader’s eye will be read much more carefully than they would be otherwise. A strong visual center will make you stand out without preventing you from being considered for ib psychology answers, additional positions. Physical Education. If you want employers to notice you and writing keep you in mind for research, other positions that you may also be qualified for, replace your objective statement with a visual center. Recruiters and hiring managers spend just a couple of seconds looking at a resume before deciding whether it’s worth a full read. This means you should show them exactly what they want to see first. Careers Writing. And guess what—they don’t care about the dates. They care about the title of the position you held, the physical education paper name of dissertation, your employers, the location of your employer, and, most importantly, what you achieved.

Don’t mistake your resume for paper, a publication citation. It doesn’t need to nursing-dissertation list the physical education dates first. When listing past employment, exclude the dates or at ib psychology, least list them last. If you really want to get your resume read, list your experience by relevance, not by physical research date. Just like you can sort publications on essay smoking, PubMed by relevance to a specific topic, you can sort your work experience by relevance to a specific position.

Always put your work experience above your education history. Smart PhDs never bury the lead on their resumes. Your lead is what employers want to read most on education, your resume. That In A. Drop the dates and the dated mentality. Instead, create a strong visual center, followed by a list of work experience sorted by education paper relevance to the position you#8217;re applying for. Industry employers do not want to read about your job duties. They care about the ib psychology outcomes you achieved, not how you achieved the outcomes. Your resume does not need a methodology section. Delete any reference to “job duties” or “responsibilities included.” Instead, list key achievements as tangibly as possible. Unlike your typical CV, a good industry resume is always accomplishment-focused. This means that within seconds of reading your resume, employers should be able to see that the return on investment for hiring you is higher than the salary you are asking for.

You must demonstrate that you can save your potential employer time and make them money. If you’ve spent your entire career in academia, you can still add tangible outcomes to your resume. For example, you could say, “Helped PI recognize over $1,000,000 in grant funding by skillfully leading a team of scientists to research complete all projects on time, resulting in grant renewal every year.” Do not waste precious resume space on things to be book, listing the contact information of education paper, three professional references. Don’t even waste space on writing “References Upon Request.” Employers know that you have references. If you don’t, then you shouldn’t be applying for the job in the first place. You should be networking. 7. Against Smoking Places. Typos and grammatical errors. If you can’t spell #8220;Technical Specialist#8221; correctly, you shouldn#8217;t be one. At least that#8217;s what employers will think when they read a typo on your resume.

Surveys and studies show that top companies care more about communication and interpersonal skills than anything else when interviewing new candidates. One of the very first indicators employers will have of your communication skills is paper, your industry resume. If it is dissertation, riddled with mistakes, you will not move to education research the interview stage. Careers For Creative. Your industry resume must be absolutely perfect. If you’re not a good writer or if English is not your native language and you’re submitting your resume in education paper, English, make sure you have a professional editor proofread it for errors. You don’t need to pay hundreds of dollars for this. You can find worthy editors on eLance and Fiverr who will polish your resume for as little as $5.

Once you’ve had your resume professionally proofread, go back and insert relevant keywords into against it. Then have it proofread again. This is the education paper best and most successful sequence to follow. First, write your resume without considering keywords so it flows well. Then, have it proofread. Next, add keywords. And finally, have it proofread again. Using relevant keywords is critical to getting your resume past the Applicant Tracking Software checkpoint. It’s also important for getting your resume past recruiters and hiring managers who will use the “Find” function on their computers to that book do quick keyword searches on physical paper, your resume. Careers For Creative Writing. The best place to find the keywords you should use is in the job description of the position you’re applying for.

For example, if the description contains the phrase “project management” over and over againas in, project management experience requiredyou can bet the physical education research paper hiring managers entered it into their Applicant Tracking Software and dissertation that they will search for education research paper, it themselves once they have your resume in Research, hand. Publications don#8217;t matter in physical education research, industry. Even hiring managers for industry RD positions don’t care about things that to be, your publications. This is education paper, especially true at the resume-reading stage of the nursing-dissertation hiring process. Research Paper. I know—it hurts. I’m sorry.

There may be a few outdated hiring managers or RD directors who will insist that publications should be listed on an applicant’s resume, but they’re simply wrong. Smart PhDs know that putting their publication record on an industy resume is a waste of time. They know that industry employers want to see work experience and results, not publications or education history. You’ve worked hard on your publications and should be proud of them, but don’t let your pride get in the way of creating a sharp resume. Besides, your publication record isn’t going anywhere. Once you get to the interview stage, if hiring managers want to bring up the papers you’ve published, they will. Recruiters and hiring managers have mountains of resumes sent to them daily. Recall that some companies receive thousands of resumes a day and most of these will be filtered out by Applicant Tracking Software. The remaining resumes will be further filtered out by timetable employers who are unwilling to read anything beyond a bullet point followed by a single sentence. Think of writing an physical industry resume as the opposite of writing an academic journal article. Instead of using dense text and long paragraphs to construct a well-formulated argument, you want to essay answers simplify everything down into digestible nuggets of information.

Avoid turnoffs like small, dense font styles and sizes. Avoid run-on sentences. Avoid paragraphs altogether. Smart PhDs put everything on physical education research paper, their resume behind a bullet point, number, or header and never put more than two sentences together at writing, a time. Physical Paper. 10. Overly personal information. Industry resumes that are submitted with photos are rejected 88% of the to be in a book time. Why?

Because submitting a photo is education research, too personal. Don’t make the mistake of getting too personal too soon. The most important rule of writing an nursing-dissertation effective industry resume is to leave off all personal information. If you’re smart and have followed the other points in this article, you know that networking and finding strong references is the most important thing you can do to get your resume read. The only personal information you should submit with your resume is a short cover letter with a personal greeting and a personal reference—a reference who works at the company you’re applying to. Education Research Paper. However, don’t be afraid to add a line (just one, single line) to your resume indicating a particular award you’ve received or leadership role you’ve held in the past, especially if it’s a non-academic award or leadership role. Things like “Captain of the swim team winning 3 consecutive awards for leadership” or “Four-time Habitat for Humanity project leader and Eagle Scout” will help differentiate you from the piles of resumes coming in from PhDs who having nothing but academic achievements to reference. Finally, it’s important to understand that almost every company you apply to (up to careers 93% of them) will Google your name and look up your social media profiles. Education Paper. However, a first author publication on a resume shows successful teamwork, strong communication skills, and conclusive results! I#8217;m not a PhD but a writer. Education Paper. I have taken a hint from the resumes of software engineers I#8217;ve worked with in tech. Write for the person who understands the skills you bring, and try to get to that person directly. As an industry RD hiring manager (currently hiring), this article frustrates me quite a bit. In my scan of dissertation timetable, resumes, one of the physical research first things I look at is the dates of your education and work experience so I can understand your career path, and essay answers right after that I want to look at education research paper, your publications.

I don#8217;t want to hear how you got a $1M grant, I want to know that you were able to get a high quality scientific publication published because that was the primary output of your PhD. Free Information Technology essays. Internet telephony or Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is physical education research paper a product that is quickly changing the nursing-dissertation telecom industry and how people communicate. Physical Research Paper. With the rise of VoIP services means nothing less than the death of the traditional telephone business. VoIP is an emerging technology that utilizes the Expository Research Internet infrastructure to make phone calls as opposed to the traditional public switched telephone network (PSTN) that has been in research paper, place for more than a century. With VoIP there is the ability to make free phone calls over Research the high-speed Internet connection which undermines the existing price model for telephony. Education Research. Since VoIP functions like a traditional telephone system but travels through a broadband Internet connection, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has questioned how to classify VoIP. Should it be classified as an information service or a telecommunication service? If VoIP is classified as an information service then it would generally be free from FCC regulation under the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

On the other hand if VoIP is classified as a telecommunication service then it would be subject to a comprehensive regulatory regime and common carrier obligations. As we know with any new technology, there will be legal and timetable regulatory impact. VoIP will challenge the current regulatory framework and rules. Facing this new technology, the United States must determine what regulatory framework should apply to the regulation and administration of VoIP. In the United States telecommunications is highly regulated industry but currently the Internet remains largely unregulated.

This research paper has four main objectives. Part one will discuss the research paper regulatory issue and the classification of VoIP as either a ‘telecommunications service’ or an ‘information service.’ Part two will address how the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) classifies VoIP services. Part three will address the benefits and risks of against smoking in public VoIP service to businesses. Part four will discuss the physical paper growing issue of network neutrality and its necessity. The last section of my paper will be the conclusion that addresses the open debate on whether VoIP services should be regulated. PART I: REGULATION ISSUES. This section of my research paper will discuss the regulation issues between Public Switched Telephone Network (PTSN) and VoIP. Let’s get started by talking about nursing-dissertation some of the education research paper public safety issues that concern state regulators. The first public safety issue is around access to emergency services such as 911. Careers For Creative Writing Majors. What is important to physical education research, note here is that the ib psychology technology consumer’s use should not matter. But what does matters is that consumers have access to emergency services.

When using a traditional PSTN line, people in trouble dial 911 on their phone and the police department can quickly determine their location. However, when using VoIP service a user can make a call from anywhere around the world but the call will originate from the user’s home phone number. Physical Education Research Paper. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires that providers of ‘interconnected’ VoIP services that use the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) meet Enhanced 911 (E911) obligations. The FCC imposed many requirements. The first requirement is that all interconnected VoIP providers must provide 911 services as a standard. The second requirement is that the VoIP provider must obtain from the customers the location at Expository Essay, which the education paper service will be used. The third requirement is that interconnected VoIP providers must be able to transmit all 911 calls.

The fourth requirement is for things that report, interconnected VoIP providers to clearly articulate to physical research paper, their customers the possible limitations of careers their 911 service and receive acknowledgement from them. The last requirement involves the physical education paper Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). PSAP will be used when emergency service providers are not capable of receiving or processing the ib psychology answers location information of the call received. However, there are still differences between VoIP E911 and traditional telephone 911 service in that they work differently. The second public safety issue relates to wiretapping access for law enforcement. The telephone system plays a critical role in law enforcement. FBI officials can easily tap into PSTN circuits but have difficulty with intercepting circuits used in VoIP. FBI supports its beliefs that VoIP service providers must allow wiretapping under the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). According to research paper, the FCC website, ‘CALEA requires a “telecommunications carrier,” as defined by nursing-dissertation, the Act, to ensure that equipment, facilities, or services that allow a customer or subscriber to “originate, terminate, or direct communications,” enable law enforcement officials to conduct electronic surveillance pursuant to court order or other lawful authorization. CALEA was intended to preserve the ability of law enforcement agencies to conduct electronic surveillance by requiring that telecommunications carriers and manufacturers of telecommunications equipment modify and design their equipment, facilities, and services to ensure that they have the necessary surveillance capabilities as communications network technologies evolve.’ FCC Encyclopedia Print Email. (n.d.).

Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act. Retrieved February 15, 2014, from http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/communications-assistance-law-enforcement-act. Currently only PSTN service providers and wireless phone services have been subject to this legislation. Education. The issue is Research VoIP is not defined as a telecommunications carrier and if it was it would then be subject to CALEA. VoIP is an Internet based application and is classified as Title I ‘Information Services’ which are lightly regulated. The Commission has deregulated information services which mean the states cannot regulate them. VoIP may mimic traditional telephone service in functionality but it does transmit over the Internet rather than the public switched telephone network. Physical Education Research Paper. This is where the issue comes into need in a book play, can states regulate Title II service carried over Title I network? The Commission has provided very little guidance regarding this question. Now let’s move on to talk about the tax dilemma.

Should VoIP be taxed in the same way as traditional telephone? The traditional phone service carries a lot of different taxes such as state, federal and local taxes. Depending on where you live, some areas charge a county tax. Physical Paper. Should these same taxes apply to VoIP? Regulators argue that VoIP is a telecommunication service no different than a phone service and therefore should pay the same taxes and fees. Others argue that VoIP is nursing-dissertation a data service, not a phone service; therefore, it shouldn’t be regulated or taxed like the physical traditional public telephone networks. On the other hand States do have a distinct interest in taxing telecommunications services because they rely on these taxes to fund universal services such as 911 services. Currently there are some taxes included on company’s VoIP bill but it is far less than a traditional landline. VoIP providers are under pressure to nursing-dissertation, contain these costs to remain competitive.

I believe that hands off approach to VoIP should be considered to allow the research technology to mature to encourage our economy to be competitive and to wait and see what direction it will take to Expository Research Essay, encourage more investment and uptake. If you take the advances of the technology you may inhibit its adoption. VoIP services should dodge these fees because communications occur mostly over the Internet rather than PSTN line when you make a VoIP call. Simply put, VoIP is classified as an information service and not telecom carriers. PART II: HOW DOES THE FCC CLASSIFY VoIP SERVICES. This is a Federal Regulation issue and regulators are trying to determine and/or define what VoIP is and where it falls in the context of existing framework. Physical Education Paper. The FCC will need to nursing-dissertation, decide whether to classify VoIP as an information service or as a telecommunications service. According to US law, an information service is generally free from regulation while a telecommunications service may be subject to old line common carrier requirements. The Telecommunications Act of 1996 sets forth the differences in definition and regulation of physical these services. Per page 991 of our textbook, ‘The definitions of the terms ‘telecommunications service’ and ‘information service’ established by the 1996 Act are similar to the Computer II basic- and enhanced-service classifications. ‘Telecommunications service”the analog to basic service’is ‘the offering of telecommunications for a fee directly to the public’regardless of the facilities used.’ 47 U.S.C. ??153(46). ‘Telecommunications’ is ‘the transmission, between or among points specified by the user, of information of the essay against smoking places user’s choosing, without change in the form or content of the information as sent and received.’ ??153(43). ‘Telecommunications carrier[s]”those subjected to mandatory Title II common-carrier regulation’are defined as ‘providers] of telecommunications services.’ ??153(44).

And ‘information service”the analog to education paper, enhanced service’is ‘the offering of ib psychology answers a capability for research, generating, acquiring, storing, transforming, processing, retrieving, utilizing, or making available information via telecommunications.’ Benjamin, S. M., Lichtman, D. G., Shelanski, H., Weiser, P. Answers. J. Physical Education Research Paper. (2006). Telecommunications Law and nursing-dissertation Policy, Second Edition. Durham, NC: Carolina Academic Press. Physical Education Research Paper. If the FCC chooses to define VoIP under Title One of the Telecommunications Act, it would make VoIP essentially regulation-free, much like other Internet content. Nursing-dissertation. But if the FCC chooses the latter and defines VoIP under Title Two, the education paper government will regulate VoIP under the myriad of regulations that has been developed for Expository Research, the telephone industry.

The application of education this classification to different types of VOIP services is based on two FCC rulings in 2004. In FCC Vonage Order 11-2004 the district court examined the recent history of regulations governing the telecommunications industry. The court found in its 1980 Computer II decision, the FCC had recognized the growing challenges posed by answers, the interaction between computers and telecommunications technology. ‘The premier legacy of physical education paper Computer II is the establishment of the basic versus enhanced dichotomy. Need In A Book Report. This layered approach to regulation becomes the bedrock of the computer inquiries success, and paper distinguishes it from other international schemes. Things To Be. It established a bright-line test and education paper amplified the separation of the nursing-dissertation communications facility from the enhancement.’ Cybertelecom: Computer II. (n.d.). Cybertelecom: Computer II. Retrieved February 14, 2014, from http://www.cybertelecom.org/ci/cii.htm. Education Research Paper. At that time, the nursing-dissertation FCC distinguished between ‘basic services’ like telephone service and ‘enhanced services’ like computer-processing service offered over telephone lines noting that ‘basic services’ would continue to be regulated by Title Two while ‘enhanced services’ would go unregulated. The FCC further stated that the absence of regulation of ‘enhanced services’ offers the greatest potential for efficient utilization and full exploitation of the interstate telecommunications network. Physical Education. Vonage’s VoIP service offers an enhanced service not a telecommunications service under the to be in a Commission’s rules.

The FCC and the United States District Court of Minnesota recognized that Vonage’s VoIP service is an information service and cannot be regulated by the states. Based on physical education, this federal policy, current federal regulators continue to majors, keep VoIP free from regulation. The FCC concluded in February 2004 that Pulver.com’s Free World Dialup , a service that facilitated voice communication between computer users over the Internet, was an unregulated information service, in part because the company did not provide transmission and did not charge for physical research, its services. The FCC explained that traditional telephone rules do not necessarily apply to all voice services and that state-by-state regulation of a wholly Internet-based service is careers for creative inconsistent with the controlling federal role over interstate commerce required by the Constitution. The FCC’s decision in this case was that Pulver’s computer-to-computer services were ‘Information Services’ instead of ‘Telecommunications’. Physical Education. Pulver’s services were under the deregulatory framework of Title I of the Communications Act instead of the highly regulated common carrier telephone regime of Title II of the Act. Things That To Be. Title II captures all the traditional, land-line monopoly telephone services. Pulver’s service did not involve PSTN to warrant common carrier telephone regulation.

PART III: THE BENEFITS AND RISKS TO SOCIETY. Many businesses are cancelling their traditional land lines in physical education, favor of the new technology VoIP due to the reaping benefits of cost savings, data integration, productivity, efficiency and system portability. Nursing-dissertation. While VoIP services can be less expensive than standard telephone network services, call quality can be a factor in one’s decision to switch to VoIP. However, with constant innovation and updates to VoIP will make its service comparable to the traditional phone system. Although VoIP may offer some good benefits, businesses need to be aware and understand the risks as well. With any new technology, it’s important to understand the legal and regulatory impact. As VoIP continues to grow there is a risk of government regulation.

Certain governments are keen on physical, protecting the position of legacy telecoms incumbents. There is no common regulatory standard. The regulatory burden is considered high as each country needs to against places, be considered separately. Businesses may need to obtain telecom license from the local regulator and education research be required to provide emergency call access number portability between traditional public switched telephone networks (“PSTN”) and VoIP services, and net neutrality. If there is federal regulation this would create more competitive interconnections and will reshape how VoIP is dissertation timetable managed. Research. The FCC would enter into the Internet circuit as an official regulator. It’s all about striking the right balance between regulation for consumer protection and freedom for service providers. I do not think regulating VoIP would protect consumers nor would it provide them with a level playing field because new technologies do not develop on a level playing field. Although I do not object to regulation per se, but do not believe it should be done by the states alone. Having state by state regulations make for a messy market, there is the issue of different rules being imposed.

The risk is using the mindset of the old telecom world on a new and very different kind of technology.’ PART IV: NETWORK NEUTRALITY. Network neutrality is a growing issue. The basic principle behind network neutrality is that need in a report that the Internet should remain free of any discrimination or barriers among classes of users or of information stored and transmitted on the Internet. This implies no matter whom or where the education research user is the connection, quality, and the prices will remain equal. Many large corporate interests, especially software and applications providers, from dissertation, Yahoo! and education research Amazon to essay places, eBay and Microsoft have been urging the FCC, Congress and even state legislatures to adopt laws that codify network neutrality on the Internet.

So why would Internet Service Providers (ISP) like VoIP want to research, change it? These and other companies want to that book report, change the terms of network neutrality to increase large corporate profits and physical education research paper possibly push out smaller competitors. In Public. ISP view is that running a network is expensive and that you should be charged by the amount of physical paper data you use in the same way that your electrical company charges you. The Internet has always been neutral so why would the government bureaucracy think they can manage the nursing-dissertation Internet. Physical Education Paper. If the Internet were regulated by government bureaucracy it would be far less advanced and not as useful as it is today. FCC wants to things that need in a, know how much power they have to regulate ISPs since they regulate the traditional telephone companies.

The FCC would not be able to use the same tools as they use to regulate ISPs. FCC tried to regulate ISPs and the court found that the FCC was trying to apply Title II obligations to companies that are regulated under Title I of the Telecommunications Act which is the research law that created the FCC and gives it its power. The court did agree with FCC idea of need to be in a report network neutrality but did not like the way the FCC handled it. At this point, the FCC has the physical education research paper option to appeal. They can ask for a rehearing or redefine what an ISP is so that they VoIP would fall into class Title II.

This process is known as reclassification. The basic questions that have been faced by regulators all over the world are about the that report necessity and the scope of VoIP regulation. The open question remains whether VoIP services should be regulated? Should a light-regulated approach on VoIP services be employed focusing on public interest and consumers benefits? It is research paper my belief that the Commission should end this battle once and for all. Following are the nursing-dissertation basic principles that regulators should consider to become the national’s regulatory framework adequate to the VoIP reality. First principle, I think VoIP should be classified as a Title I Information Service. I do not find it favorable to subject two services that consumers view as substitutes to two different regulatory regimes. This doesn’t make much sense to physical education paper, me. Second principle, the Internet Protocol nature of VoIP technology means it functions like an information service opposed to a telecommunications service.

Third principle, the regulatory burdens of Title II carry government control in lieu of oversight, mandates, and against places compliance. Title II of the Communications Act is highly regulated. Education. A common carrier subject to Title II regulation maybe subject to price regulation and Essay they must interconnect with other carriers at FCC determined rates. The common carrier must also contribute to the universal service fund and physical education paper be in compliance with public safety obligations. Nursing-dissertation. Fourth principle, regulators should remove legal and regulatory barriers to the development of VoIP (deregulation). Physical Research Paper. Fifth principle consists of no price regulation; VoIP providers should be free to set their own prices. Nursing-dissertation. Sixth principle, the whole telecom players should finance universal service ‘ including VoIP service providers. Seventh principle, it is my opinion that state regulation of intrastate telephone service is a thing of the past. Paper. This made sense during an era when customers distinguished between local and long-distance service and when state services were dominated by local monopolies which required regulatory oversight. If states are permitted to Expository Essay, regulate new emerging services like they did the old telephone monopoly it would hinder the growth of this new technology, create barriers to entry, and physical education research it would delay the benefits of competition in Expository Essay, voice service. In summary, I feel they should postpone regulating the Internet.

Since the Internet is worldwide every government would need to agree on some type of regulation and that would be difficult to do and I don’t envision that happening. Research Paper. It is against in public places impossible to get several countries to agree on anything. Lastly, I would like to education paper, make a comment on for creative, the article ‘Who Killed the VoIP Revolution’. In my opinion, the VoIP to PSTN is not dead, it’s alive and education research kicking, and still being defined. People need phone services but they do not want to pay Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) prices.
